Dating Your Phone

The level of texting in the US has increased exponentially in recent years, so much so that most 20 somethings don't know or remember a time when connecting with one another was not primarily accomplished through their phone's text app. One would imagine that this sort of fast, immediate yet non-committal form of communication would enhance our interpersonal relationships, but I believe that would be a contradiction of terms. I submit that when people rely too heavily on these quickly conceived witty short text phrases combined with complimentary emojis that while they may be flirtatious they are no substitute for actually spending one on one time with the object of your desires.

In the near future I will once again be taking on the topic of relationships, just like this one in which I addressed the monumentally important challenges confronting those who wish to enjoy a happy relationship in our digital age of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat and Texting.

Highlights from '88-'90 "The Joe Show" Sketch Comedy Cable Access Program

(FF to 4:26 to Watch Ronald Rump's wife #1 Ivana Rump vs wife #2 Narla Naples)

The Joe Show Improv Comedy Highlights

A little background, I produced these "The Joe Shows" named to make fun of people who named their TV and radio shows after themselves. No one on the show was actually ever named Joe, we just liked it because it rhymed with show. The host was my ex-husband who never had any interest in becoming a professional actor hence the dark glasses, however, I think he steals the show with his deadpan hosting skills. My sister plays Ivana and we also had another very talented friend Jeff who was a member of The Joe Show Players, but is not featured in this skit. There were never any rehearsals we would have a pre-production meeting and order a pizza the night before each taping and let each other know what 2 characters we would be in the next show. Each of us would provide my husband, the host, our questions and he would throw in at least one question we were not expecting, so that we could really have to dig deep to respond as the character we created.

Later I sent my best of The Joe Show tape to cousin Loren at SNL but was never recruited to join their cast instead many of our skits' more humorous characters were simply stolen by Dana Carvey in order to create his popular Church Lady character using a combination of my Reverend Anita Moore Money and my sister's Sally Sphincter Director of Flagellators Anonymous Research Team aka FART.

Jeff and my Fat Vac home liposuction machine skit certainly looks like it also served as inspiration to cousin Loren to produce the movie "Wayne's World" public access show like "The Joe Show." Using the sale of a vacuum hair cutting gadget to cut Garth's hair which was funny and a take off on a real life gadget called Flow Bee.

Its Ok though imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and Michaels is not even Loren's real last name (Lipowitz), so we are not cousins anyway.

Portraying Walter, Jr's Mom for Video Ad

Unfortunately, the Kansas City area cable systems no longer provide any support for community access programming, therefore, I have moved my LIVE with Lisa show to my YouTube channel. So you can imagine how much fun it was to be cast to play R.J. Mitte's mother for this Insurance advertisement that was filmed here in Kansas City. My sons were devoted fans of R. J.'s TV show "Breaking Bad" in which he played the main character's son Walter, Jr.

It turns out R. J. was born within days of my middle son's birthday, so it was almost like type casting except with another handsome young man playing my son.

While I am able to use my creativity to help my Bott Radio Network advertising clients to create effective ads, I hope more acting work comes my way now that I live here in the heartland.
